GRANT APPLICATIONS

Clifford Chambers Charities

Welfare Fund Grant

Clifford Chambers Charities brings together 5 small charities within the ancient parish of Clifford Chambers, the
earliest of which dates back to the 15th Century. These charities provided bread and fuel and sometimes clothing
or work tools for the poor and needy of the parish.

In the 21st century, the Welfare State provides for most of the basics of life, but there are still many gaps in
provision. The Trustees of the Charities are pleased to be able to offer a little extra assistance to those living within
or with close connections to the parish, who find themselves in situations of individual need that might arise as a
result of illness, loss of employment or family bereavement. Assistance is also provided to groups or organisations
providing a service to the parish.

Thomas Jackson Educational Foundation Grant

In the mid-17th century, Sir Thomas Jackson left a house and some land in Tiddington and Alveston for the upkeep of a school and schoolmaster to educate the poor of Clifford Chambers.
In the 21st century, the Welfare State provides for a good basic education, but there are still gaps in provision and the Trustees of the Charities are pleased to be able to offer a little extra assistance to those living within the Parish, with connections to the Parish or to groups or organisations providing a direct or indirect education service to the Parish. The Trustees support all ages and all aspects of education including vocational, physical, academic or social.
